Voicemail features

The Mixpbx supports an unlimited number of mailboxes. By default each user/extension has his own voicemail box. Each mailbox can have 3 different greeting messages:

  • busy message
  • unavailable message
  • temporary message that overrides all other messages

Even though each user has his voicemail, it is not activated by default. The voicemail can be activated for:

  • all calls
  • only external calls
  • only internal calls

The users voicemail parameters are only used for calls that are directly routed to his extension. If the user is part of a ring group the voicemail parameters are ignored as they could be in conflict with the voicemail parameters of other users in the same group. The voicemail parameters can be modified in our webinterface in the extensions section. Just click on the name or number of the extension to access the extensions parameters.

Voicemail can be very handy in scenarios other then calls routed directly to a users extensions

  • time based voicemail activation for out of office messages
  • route customers to voicemail when no one is available to take the call

Number of messages

Each mailbox can keep up to 300 messages. A daily maintenance script is executed on mailboxes containing more than 200 messages. Messages are moved into an archive and deleted after a month.

Expiration of a message

Messages are kept for 30 days in the mailbox system, after their expiration the system moves the old messages into an archive that is kept for another 2 months.
