About AVM

Founded in 1986 in Berlin, AVM is one of the top two manufacturers of ADSL devices in Europe. With a market share of over 50 percent, it is the leading manufacturer in Germany, Europe’s largest market. AVM has 425 employees and generated a turnover of €200 million in the 2009 fiscal year.

The Berlin-based communications specialist has received numerous awards for its innovative FRITZ!Box product range, developed and produced in Germany. FRITZ!Box enables fast, user-friendly DSL access, easy networking, inexpensive Internet telephony and versatile multimedia applications.

The Fritzbox and the Mixpbx

AVM's key product the "Fritzbox" is an ADSL or VDSL modem and mini voip server that offers a perfect QOS (Quality Of Service). We recommend the usage of the Fritzbox whenever you need to share your internet connection amongst data traffic (e-mail, surfing, downloads) and voice traffic (phone calls). AVM understood that the constant increase in bandwidth requires high quality access devices (router/modem) that manages the different type of traffic.

Office solution

In a generic office scenario the Fritzbox assures that voice traffic gets the highest priority as SME's require a perfect voice quality for their daily business. A special configuration of the "quality of service" is not required as this feature is working by default and does not require any special configurations.

In this scenario the Fritzbox assures the following services:

  • Access device to the internet
  • Quality of service for the voice traffic
  • Wireless access point
  • Telephony service continuity in case of an internet downtime

Both scenarios are described in detail here:
